SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past 24 hours, rain or thundershowers has been widespread in Taninthayi Region, fairly widespread in Kachin, Eastern Shan States, scattered in Mandalay, Upper Sagaing Regions and Kayin, Northern Shan States, isolated in Yangon, Magway, Ayeyarwady Regions and Chin, Mon, Southern Shan States and weather has been partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. Day temperatures were 3°C to 4°C above May average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Bago, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon States, 2°C above May average temperatures in Kayah, Eastern Shan States, 2°C below May average temperature in Northern Shan State, 3°C below May average temperature in Lower Sagaing Region and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were 42.2°C in Bago, 42.0°C in Taungdwingyi, 41.9°C in Taunggu, 41.8°C in Theinzayet, 41.6°C in Shwekyin, 41.4°C each in Zaung Tu and Tharrawady and 41.0 each in Phyu, Gyobingauk, Minbu and Zalun on 7-5-2026. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 2.24 inches in Myawaddy, 1.40 inches in Tachileik, 1.34 inches in Kawkareik, 1.30 inches in Dawei, 1.14 inches in Muse, 0.87 inch in Mongyawng,  0.75 inch in Mongpan, 0.67 inch each in Meiktila and Mudon and 0.35 inch in Myeik.

BAY INFERENCE: Weather is partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 9th May 2026: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Taninthayi Region, fairly widespread in Kayin, Mon, (Southern and Eastern)Shan States, scattered in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Bago, Sagaing Regions and Kachin, Kayah, Chin, Northern Shan States and isolated in the remaining Regions and States. Degree of certainty is 80%.

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine, Shan States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: Sea will be slight to moderate in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 4-6 feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of scattered to fairly widespread rain or thundershowers in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Bago, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayah, Kayin, Mon, Shan States.
