30-11-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm “FENGAL” over the Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved Westwards. It is centered at about 765 Nautical miles West of Coco Island (Myanmar), 45 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Chennai and 40 Nautical miles East-Northeast of Puducherry (India). The centre pressure of Cyclonic Storm is 994 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 50 miles per hour. Weather is cloudy over the Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy over the Andaman Sea.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershower have been isolated in (Northern and Eastern) Shan and Kayah States, scattered in Sagaing and Mandalay Regions, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw and Magway Region and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Bago and Taninthayi Regions, isolated heavy falls in Magway Region and Kayin State. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Kawthong (4.76) inches, Dawei (4.73)inches, Shwegyin and Madauk (3.86)inches each, Kyainseikkyi (3.20)inches, Kyeikkhame (2.19)inches, Hlaingbwe (2.64)inches, Yay (2.44)inches, Myitkyina and Bago (2.36)inches each, Kyeikmayaw (2.32)inches, Paung (2.28)inches, Mudon (2.24)inches, Myeik (2.20)inches, Mawlamyine (2.16)inches, Chaungsone (2.13)inches, Manaung and Zaungtu (2.05)inches each, Shwegwun (1.97)inches, Kyaukpyu (1.93)inches, Gwa (1.85)inches, Nyaunglaybin and Belin (1.81)inches each, Taunggyi and Thaton (1.77)inchges each and Gangaw (1.65)inches.

BAY NFERENCE: According to the observations at (12:30)hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal still persists. Monsoon is strong to vigorous over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 5th August, 2016: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing and Mandalay Regions, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing and Magway Regions, Kayah State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavy falls in Taninthayi Region, Rakhine and Mon States, isolated heavy falls in Magway, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kayin State. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squalls with rough sea will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40) m.p.h.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of increase of rain in Bago and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Kayin and Mon States.
