SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been scattered in Kayin State, fairly widespread in Taninthayi Region and Kachin, Eastern Shan, Kayah States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Mandalay Region and isolated heavyfalls in Magway, Ayeyarwady Regions and Chin State. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were (3.15) inches in Hakha, (3.07) inches in Zalun, (2.90) inches each in Kani, Khayan, (2.83) inches in Theinzayet, (2.71) inches in Yangon(Mayangon), (2.64) inches in Ponnagyun, (2.52) inches in Kungyangon, (2.36) inches in Pauktaw, (2.32) inches in Mingin and (2.24) inches in Pantanaw.

BAY INFERENCE:  : According to the observations at (13:30) hrs M.S.T today, a low pressure area has formed over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining off West Bengal-Odisha coasts(India). It is likely to move west-northwestwards across North Odisha and South Jharkhand during next (48)hrs. Monsoon is moderate over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and strong elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 20th September 2023: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Kayah State, fairly widespread in Magway, Taninthayi Regions and Eastern Shan, Kayin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady Regions and Chin, Rakhine States. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35-40) mph. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (8-10) feet in in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast and (5-7) feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Weak to moderate Monsoon over the Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal.
