SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin, Kayah States, scattered in Naypyitaw, Kayin State, fairly widespread in Magway, Bago Regions and Northern Shan, Chin, Mon States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay Regions and Rakhine State and isolated heavyfalls in Chin State. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were (3.86) inches in Myingyan, (3.78) inches in Rambree, (3.58) inches in Paletwa, (3.32) inches in Minbya, (2.72) inches in Myauk U, (2.13) inches in Patheingyi, (1.81) inches in Thabeikkyin, (1.73) inches each in Myinmu and Maubin and (1.65) inches in Matupi.
BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
SPECIAL FEACTURES: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Typhoon “Saola” over the South China Sea is likely forecast to move West-Northwestwards.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 31st August, 2023: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Naypyitaw, Magway Region and Kachin, Kayah States, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago Regions and Shan, Kayin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay Regions and Chin State. Degree of certainty is (100%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30-35) mph. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (7-9) feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi and (5-7) feet off and along Rakhine Coast.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Increase of rain in Taninthayi Region.
