SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Lower Sagaing Region. Rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Mandalay, Magway Regions, scattered in Northern Shan, Kayah States, fairly widespread in Taninthayi Region and Kachin, (Southern and Eastern)Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Rakhine, Mon States and isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing Region and Chin, Kayin States. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were (7.40) inches in Maungdaw, (4.21) inches in Ann, (4.18) inches in Ye, (4.13) inches in Paletwa, (4.02) inches each in Hkamti and Kyeikmayaw, (3.96) inches in Myebon, (3.76) inches in Ponnagyun, (3.74) inches in Thaton, (3.62) inches in Hpa-an, (3.54) inches in Rathedaung and (3.51) inches in Chaungsone.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

SPECIAL FEACTURES: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Typhoon “Saola” over the Phillippine Sea is likely forecast to move Eastwards.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 28th August, 2023: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway Regions and Northern Shan, Kayah States, fairly widespread in Taninthayi Region and (Southern and Eastern)Shan State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Rakhine State and isolated heavyfalls in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin, Chin, Kayin, Mon States. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30-35) m.p.h. Wave height will be about (7-9) feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Increase of rain in Taninthayi Region and Shan, Kayin, Mon States.
