SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Upper Sagaing Region, fairly widespread in Kachin, Chin States, isolated in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Yangon, Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine State and partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were (1.02) inches each in Kawthaung and Homalin, (0.63) inch in Tiddim, (0.59) inch in Pauktaw, (0.43) inch in Kalewa, (0.28) inch in Monyin, (0.24) inch each in Tongzan and Hkamti and (0.20) inch each in Mawlaik and Thazi(Hlaingtat).

BAY INFERENCE: Weather is partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

SPECIAL FEACTURES: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs MST today, the Severe Tropical Storm “Nesat” over the South China Sea has moved Westwards and weakened into Tropical Storm Nesat”. It is centered at about (210) nautical miles East of Dong Hoi, Vietnam. It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and weaken into Tropical Depression and will cross upper Vietnam coast around morning of (21.10.2022).

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 20th October, 2022: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Chin State, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin State, scattered in Magway, Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine State and isolated in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squall with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (30- 35) mph. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (8-10) feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and (4-7) feet off and along Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of scattered to fairly widespread rain or thundershowers in Taninthayi Region and Chin, Rakhine States.
