BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (15:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Severe Cyclonic Storm “YAAS”over the Westcentral Bay and adjoining Eastcentral and North Bay of Bengal has moved North-Northwestwards and centered at about (415) Nautical miles Northwest of Coco Island, about (400) Nautical miles West-Northwest of Pathein (Myanmar), about (125) Nautical miles South-Southeast of Paradip,about (180) Nautical miles South-Southeast of Digha (India). Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay of Bengal and weather is cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 26th May, 2021: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Chin, Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing Region and Northern Shan, Kayah States, scattered inNaypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway Regions and (Southern and Eastern)Shan State andisolated in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavyfalls in Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Mon State. Degree of certainty is (80%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squalls with very rough seas will be experienced inDeltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40-45)m.p.h. Squalls with rough seas are likely at times Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35-40)m.p.h. Wave height will be about (13 -17)feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast and about (9-13)feet in Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of thundery activities in Deltaic areas.
