SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been fairly widespread in Taninthayi region and Northern Shan State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Magway Region, Rakhine and Mon States and isolated heavy falls in Kayin State. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were (5.51) inches in Maungdaw, (4.46) inches in Kya- In- Seikkyi, (4.29) inches in Mudon, (3.46) inches in Gwa, (3.31) inches in Paung, (3.15) inches in Kyeikkhame, (3.03) inches in Kyeikmayaw, (2.99) inches each in Hakha and Ye, (2.87) inches in Labutta, (2.83) inches in Ramthlo, (2.54) inches in Payathonsu and (2.50) inches in Paing Kyone.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal now lies over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining North coastal Odisha, India. Monsoon is moderate over the Andaman Sea and strong to vigorous over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 22nd September, 2020: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay and Taninthayi Regions and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavy falls in Rakhine State and isolated heavy falls in Upper Sagaing, Magway, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kachin and Mon States. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Occassional squalls with rough to very rough seas will be experienced Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40-45)m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar Waters. Wave height will be about (8 – 14) feet Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Rakhine Coasts and about (6- 8) feet off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Increase of rain in Rakhine State.
