SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been scattered in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin, Chin States, fairly widespread in Magway Region and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Mandalay, Bago, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon States and isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were (15.51) inches in Mudon, (13.03) inches in Kyeikmayaw, (9.17) inches in Ye, (8.27) inches in Mawlamyine, (5.80) inches in Paing Kyone, (5.58) inches in Kya-In-Seikkyi, (4.69) inches in Launglon, (4.57) inches in Payathonsu, (4.13) inches in Madauk, (4.06) inches in Thandaunggyi, (3.93) inches in Shwekyin and  (3.81) inches each in Shan-Ywar-Thit and Dawei.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong to vigorous over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 24th August, 2020: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Sagaing Region and Chin State, fairly widespread in Mandalay, Magway Regions and Kachin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Kayin, Mon States and isolated heavyfalls in Bago, Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine State. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA:  Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30-35)m.p.h. Wave height will be about (6 -9)feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Moderate monsoon.
