SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Taninthayi Region and Eastern Shan State, scattered in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay Regions, fairly widespread in Magway Region and Kayin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Rakhine State. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were (6.10) inches in Maungdaw, (5.28) inches in Sittwe, (3.90) inches in Kyauktaw, (3.04) inches in Kyaukpyu, (2.95) inches in Myauk U, (2.64) inches in Ngathaichaung, (2.52) inches in Tamu, (2.48) inches in Manaung, (2.40) inches each in Hakha and Paletwa, (2.17) inches in Labutta, (2.13) inches in Pathein, (2.09) inches in Tiddim and (2.05) inches in Thandwe.
BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Coastal Odisha-West Bengal Coasts(india) has crossed over North Coastal Odisha(India). Monsoon is weak over the Andaman Sea and Southe Bay and moderate to strong elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 21st August, 2020: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Taninthayi Regions and Eastern Shan State, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Northern Shan, Kayin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Rakhine State and isolated heavyfalls in Chin State. Degree of certainty is (100%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Squall with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (35-40)m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (8 –12) feet off and along Rakhine Coasts and about (5 – 7) feet Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Kayin and Mon States.
