SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Lower Sagaing,  Magway and Taninthayi Regions, scattered in Upper Sagaing, Mandalay and Ayeyarwady  Regions, Chin and Kayah States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Rakhine State and isolated heavy falls in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing and Yangon Regions, Kachin and Northern Shan States. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were (6.38) inches in Central Yangon, (4.88) inches in Myauk U, (3.42) inches in Myitkyina, (3.31) inches in Hkamti, (3.19) inches in Kunlong, (3.15) inches in Maungdaw, (2.99) inches in Kyauktaw, (2.76) inches in Mogaung, (2.68) inches each in Taungkok and Manaung, (2.40) inches in Sittwe, (2.36) inches in Thaton,  (1.93) inches in Kyaukpyu, (1.77) inches in Ye, (1.65) inches in Homalin, (1.61) inches in Ann, (1.57) inches in Kya-In-Seikkyi, (1.54) inches in Theinzayet and (1.50) inches in Tatkon.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is moderate over the Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay and moderate to strong elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 19th August, 2020: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing and  Magway Regions, fairly widespread in Mandalay and Taninthayi Regions and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavy falls in Rakhine State and isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing, Mandalay and Yangon Regions, Kachin and Shan(North and South) States. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times Deltaic,off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35-40)m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar Waters. Wave height will be about (8 – 11) feet Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast and about (5 - 7) feet Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of increase of rain in Rakhine State.
