SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Lower Sagaing Region. Rain or thundershowers have been scattered in Mandalay, Magway Regions and Northern Shan State, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing, Taninthayi Regions and (Southern and Eastern) Shan, Chin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Naypyitaw and Rakhine State. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were (7.09) inches in Taungkok, (4.49) inches in Kyauktaw, (3.82) inches in Thandwe, (3.19) inches in Maungdaw, (3.08) inches in Kyaukpyu, (2.96) inches in Thaton, (2.64) inches in Belin, (2.61) inches each in Ann and Hpa-an, (2.48) inches in Chaungsone, (2.44) inches in Shwegwin, (2.41) inches in Central Yangon, (2.28) inches in Thandaunggyi, (2.13) inches each in Paletwa and Hlaingbwe, (2.12) inches in Kamamaung and (2.01) inches in Mogaung.
BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is weak to moderate over the Andaman Sea and southeast Bay and strong elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 16th August, 2020: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Lower Sagaing Region, scattered in Mandalay and Magway Regions, fairly widespread in Shan and Chin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Rakhine State and isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing and Bago Regions and Kachin, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainty is (100%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely attimes Deltaic,off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35-40)m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar Waters. Wave height will be about (8 – 12) feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast and about (5-7) feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of increase of rain in Rakhine State.
