SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Lower Sagaing Region, scattered in Upper Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions, fairly widespread in Kayah State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Bago Region, Kachin and Mon States and isolated heavyfalls in Ayeyarwady Region. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were (4.29) inches in Machanbaw, (3.63) inches in Putao, (3.38) inches each in Shwekyin and Madauk, (3.34) inches in Myitkyina, (3.19) inches each in Hainggyigyun and Paung, (3.15) inches in Mawlamyine, (2.67) inches in Nyaunglaybin, (2.64) inches in Hpa-an, (2.48) inches in Hkamti, (2.24) inches in Chaungsone, (2.12) inches in Pathein, (2.09) inches in Kyeikkhame and (2.01) inches each in Heho and Gwa.
BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 09th August, 2020: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Lower Sagaing Region, scattered in Mandalay and Magway Regions, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing Region, Kayah State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Kachin State and isolated heavyfalls in Upper Sagaing Region and Mon State. Degree of certainty is (100%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30-35)m.p.h. Wave height will be about (6 – 9) feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of increase of rain in Bago and Taninthayi Regions, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States.
