SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Lower Sagaing and Magway Regions, scattered in Upper Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago and Yangon Regions, Kachin, Northern Shan and Kayah States, fairly widespread in Ayeyarwady Region, Chin, Kayin and Mon States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavy falls in Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were (4.09) inches in Pathein, (3.54) inches in Launglon, (2.64) inches in Machanbaw, (2.25) inches in Paing Kyone, (2.01) inches in Paung, (1.93) inches in Taunggu (Avia-Met), (1.77) inches in Paletwa, (1.73) inches in Myaungmya, (1.62) inches each in Kengtung and Kyeikmayaw and (1.57) inches in Mawlamyine.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong to vigorous over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SPECIAL FEATURES: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Tropical Depression has crossed Hinan, China. It has further intensified into a Tropical Storm “Sinlaku” and now lies over the Gulf of Tomkin and is centered at about (215) miles Southeast of Hanoi(Vietnam). It is forecast to move West-Northwestwards and cross the Upper Vietnam.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 02nd August, 2020: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Sagaing and Magway Regions, Kachin and Northern Shan States, fairly widespread in Mandalay, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kayah State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Taninthayi Region and Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainty is (80%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon – Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35-40)m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (8-11) feet Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon–Taninthayi Coasts and about (5-8) feet off and along Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Increase of rain in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Shan, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States.
