SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours, rain or thundershowers has been fairly widespread in Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, scattered in Bago Region, Eastern Shan and Mon States and isolated in Lower Sagaing Region, Shan (North and South) and Kayin States. Weather has been partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. Day temperatures were (7°C) above May average temperatures in Lower Sagaing and Bago Regions, (5°C) to (6°C) above May average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Shan (South and East), Chin, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States and (3°C) to (4°C) above May average temperatures in Upper Sagaing Region, Kachin, Northern Shan and Rakhine States, about May average temperature in Taninthayi Region. The significant day temperatures were (46°C) in Chauk, (44°C) each in Monywa, Kyemone, Myinmu and Gangaw and (43°C) in Pauk. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were (0.99) inch in Bago, (0.51) inch in Myaungmya, (0.43) inch in Central Yangon, (0.39) inch in Khayan, (0.35) inch in Myeik, (0.28) inch each in Minesat, Hinthada and Zalun.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm (AMPHAN) over the West Central Bay and adjoining South Bay of Bangal has moved Northwards and intensify into  a Super Cyclonic Storm (AMPHAN). It is centered at about (410)Nautical miles South of Paradip(Odisha-India), about (490) Nautical miles South-Southwest of Digha (india), about (555) Nautical miles South-Southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh), about (415)Nautical miles West of Coco-Island and about (525) Nautical miles Southwest of Pathein (Myanmar).Weather is cloudy over the South Bay and West Central Bay and partly cloudy and cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 19th May, 2020: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Rakhine and Mon States, scattered in Naypyitaw, Mandalay and Magway Regions, Southern Shan, Chin,  Kayah and Kayin States and isolated in the remaining Regions and States. Degree of certainty is (80%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and along Deltaic, Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40)m.p.h. Wave height will be about (8-12) feet off and along Deltaic, Rakhine Coasts. Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely attime off and along Gulf of Mottama, Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35)m.p.h. Wave height will be about (7-9) feet off and along Gulf of Mottama, Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of advancement of Southwest Monsoon into Southern Myanmar areas.

FORECAST FOR NAYPYITAW AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 19th May, 2020: Likelihood of isolated rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainty is (60%).

FORECAST FOR YANGON AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 19th May, 2020:  One or two rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainty is (100%).
