SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past 24 hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Kayah, Eastern Shan States, scattered in Lower Sagaing Region and Kachin, Northern Shan States, fairly widespread in Mandalay, Magway Regions and Chin, Southern Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States isolated heavyfalls in Bago, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kayin, Mon States. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 7.20 inches in Hainggyigyun, 4.53 inches in Labutta, 4.30 inches in Bogale, 3.78 inches in Mawlamyine, 3.58 inches in Mawlamyingyun, 3.27 inches in Kawkareik, 3.23 inches in Phyarpon, 3.07 inches in Bago, 2.95 inches in Theinzayet and 2.91 inches in Dedaye. 

BAY INFERENCE:  According to the observations at 12:30 hrs MST today, the low pressure area over the North Bay of Bengal and adjoining off West Bengal- Bangladesh coasts, India still persists. Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal. Weather is partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal.

Special Features:  According to the observations at 12:30 hrs MST today, the tropical storm “NARRA” over the Gulf of Tokin is likely to remain almost stationary.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 24th August 2026: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing Region and Kayah State, fairly widespread in Mandalay, Magway Regions and Kachin, Chin, Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Bago, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon, Rakhine States. Degree of certainty is 100%. 

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Yangon, Bago, Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Kayin, Mon, Rakhine, Shan states. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena. 

STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 35 m.p.h. Wave height will be about 11-13 feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Upper Sagaing, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon, Eastern Shan States.
