BAY INFERENCE:  Monsoon is strong to vigorous over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal. Weather is partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal.

Special Features: According to the observations at 05:30 hrs MST today, the tropical storm “Narra” over the Gulf of Tokin has slowly moved West-Southwest words still persists. It is likely to remain almost stationary.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 23th August 2026: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing Region and Chin States, fairly widespread in Mandalay, Magway Regions  and Kayah State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Yangon, Bago, Magway, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Kayin, Mon, Rakhine and Northern Shan States. Degree of certainty is 100%. 

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Northern Shan states. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 35 m.p.h. Wave height will be about 11-13 feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Bago, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon, Rakhine, Eastern Shan States.
