BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at 15:30 hrs MST today, the Depression over the coastal West Bengal, India and adjoining areas of Bangladesh, Northwest Bay of Bengal has moved slowly North-Northwestwards and reached over the interior region of Gangetic West Bengal still persists. It is likely to move Northwestwards and continue to across Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar, India during next 24 hrs. Monsoon is moderate over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.Weather is a few cloud to partly cloudy over the Southwest Bay and Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 18th August 2026: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing Region and Kayah State fairly widespread in Mandalay, Magway Region and Shan State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Mon, Rakhine States. Degree of certainty is 100%. 

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Bago, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Chin, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine, Northern Shan States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: : Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 35 mph. Squalls with rough seas are likely at times in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 30 mph. Wave height will be about 9-11 feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts and about 8-10 feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region and Kayin, Mon, Shan States.
