The Sea Surface Temperature (SST) and Atmospheric conditions in the Tropical Pacific Ocean near the equator indicate the persistence of strong El Niño conditions. According to the forecasts from International Meteorological Agencies based on Numerical Weather Prediction Models, very strong El Niño conditions is likely at the end of 2026.
Although El Niño is a phenomenon that occurs in the Pacific Ocean, its impacts can generally lead to irregular rainfall patterns, higher day temperatures, abnormal storm activity, drought and other extreme weather events in the upcoming summer season.
Therefore, all relevant sectors are kindly requested to take necessary precautionary measures in advance. Updates on the El Niño status will continue to be issued and disseminated in a timely manner.
