24.8.2026 According to the observations at 17:30 hrs MST today, the low pressure area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal and North Odisha, India now lies over West Bengal and adjoining areas of North Odisha, Jharkhand, India and Northwest Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to move Northwestwards and across West Bengal and adjoining areas of North Odisha and Jharkhand, India during next 24 hours. Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal . Weather is partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

Bay of Bengal situation

1. Two low pressure areas may form over the Bay of Bengal and one may further intensify into a depression. The southwest monsoon is likely to be strong over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal. Weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

Rain conditions and rainy days

2. Rainfall conditions are expected to be above normal in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Bago, Magway, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon, Rakhine States and expected about normal in Mandalay, Sagaing Regions and Kachin, Kayah, Chin and Shan States.

3. Rainy days will be expected about (21 to 28) days in Yangon, Bago, Ayeyarwady, Upper Sagaing, Tanintharyi Regions and Kachin, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine, (Southern and Eastern) Shan States and about (13 to 20)days in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, Magway, Lower Sagaing Regions and Kayah, Northern Shan States.
