Depression Condition

          According to the observations at 13:30 hrs MST today, the Well Marked low pressure area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining (North Odisha-West Bengal) Coast (India) has intensified into a Depression. It is centered at about 255 Nautical miles West- Northwest of Sittwe (Myanmar), 100 Nautical miles East-Northeast of Paradip and 70 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Sagar Island, India. 

It does not intend to move towards Myanmar coasts at the present stage and therefore the Depression is coded as yellow stage.

Position of Depression, center pressure and wind

The Depression is located at Latitude 20.6 degree North and Longitude 88.4 degree East, centre pressure of Depression is 1000 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 30 miles per hour at 13:30 hrs MST today.

Next 36 hours forecast

          It is likely to intensify into a Deep Depression, move Northwestwards during next (24)hrs and may cross North Odisha and West Bengal Coasts between  Paradip and Sagar Island during next 36 hours. Squalls with rough sea are likely at times in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach 30 mph. Wave height will be about 8-10 feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts.

People should be awared the natural disasters such as the heavy rainfall with strong wind, thunder, Lightning strike, lightning, hails, flash flood and landslide in the hilly areas and near small rivers and to make necessary preparations for inland water transport, domestic flight and irrigation dams.
