SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Taninthayi Region, fairly widespread in Bago, Ayeyarwady Regions and Southern Shan, Mon States, scattered in Yangon Region and Kayah State, isolated in Naypyitaw, Northern Shan, Rakhine, Kayin States and weather has been partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were (2.80) inches in Danubyu, (1.74) inches in Ingabu, (1.60) inches in Lemyethna, (1.57) inches in Phyu, (1.53) inches in Yangon(Mingaladon), (1.42) inches in Namsam, (1.26) inches each in Hinthada and Kyaunggon, (1.20) inches in Thabaung and (1.14) inches each in  Gwa and Dawei.

BAY INFERENCE: Weather is a few cloud over the North Bay and Westcentral Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SPECIAL FEACTURES: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Tropical Depression over the South China Sea has intensified into a Tropical Storm “Sanba”. It is likely forecast to move Northwestwards.

 

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 19th October 2023: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Taninthayi Region, fairly widespread in Southern Shan, Mon States, scattered in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kayah, Kayin States and isolated in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway Regions and (Northern and Eastern)Shan, Rakhine States. Degree of certainty is (80%). Weather has been partly cloudy the remaining Regions and States.

 

STATE OF THE SEA: Sea will be slight to moderate in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (3-6) feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

 

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of scattered to fairly widespread rain or thundershowers in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States.

 

FORECAST FOR NAYPYITAW AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 19th October 2023:            Likelihood of isolated rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainty is (60%).
