SUMMARY OF OBSERV5ATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours,Southwest monsoon has advanced into the Southern Myanmar areas, Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay of Bengal. Rain or thundershowershave been widespread in Taninthayi Region, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Kachin, Kayah States, scattered in Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and (Southernand Eastern)Shan, Rakhine, Mon States, isolated in Mandalay, Bago Regions and Northern Shan, Kayin States with regionally heavyfallsin Taninthayi Region and isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw, Yangon Region and partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. Daytemperatures were (5°C) to (6°C) above May average temperatures in Sagaing, Mandalay,Magway, Bago Regions, (3°C) to (4°C) above May average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Kachin, Shan, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin States and (2°C) above May average temperatures in Ayeyarwady Region and Mon State andabout May average temperaturesin the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were(44°C)each inMyinmu, Tada U (Avia) and Chauk and (43°C) each in Mawlaik, Myingyanand Gangaw.The noteworthyamount of rainfall recorded were(6.54) inches in Coco-Island, (4.49)inchesinLaunglon, (3.07)inches in Dawei, (2.91)inchesin Manaung, (2.40)inches in Gwa, (1.89) inches in Naypyitaw(Zayarthiri) and (1.37)inches in Kawthaung.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, a low pressure area has formed over the Eastcentral Bay of Bengal. Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay of Bengal. Weather is partly cloudy over the North Bay and cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 23rdMay, 2021: Rainor thundershowers will bewidespread inYangon, Ayeyarwady, TaninthayiRegions and Mon State, fairlywidespread in Rakhine, Kayin States, scattered in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Bago Regions and Kachin, Shan, Kayah States and isolatedin the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls inTaninthayi Region and isolated heavyfalls in Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Mon State.Degree of certainty is (80%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30-35)m.p.h. Wave height will be about (6-10) feet in off and along Myanmar Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of thundery activities in Deltaic areas.
