SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been fairly widespread in Lower Sagaing and Taninthayi regions, Eastern Shan and Kayah States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Rakhine State and isolated heavy falls in Mon State. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were (4.29) inches in Kyauktaw, (3.39) inches in Maungdaw, (3.35) inches each in Myauk U and Theinzayet, (2.99) inches each in Homalin and Ann, (2.91) inches in Kyaukpyu, (2.83) inches in Paletwa, (2.60) inches in Sittwe, (2.44) inches in Belin, (2.24) inches in Ramthlo, (2.20) inches in Thandaunggyi and (2.13) inches in Bago.
BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is weak over the Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 23rd September, 2020: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing Region and Kayah State, fairly widespread in Mandalay, Magway and Yangon Regions, Eastern Shan State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Upper Sagaing Region, Kachin and Rakhine States. Degree of certainty is (100%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35)m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar Waters. Wave height will be about (8 – 12) feet Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts and about (5- 7) feet Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Weak monsoon.
