SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Naypyitaw and Kayah State. Rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Lower Sagaing and Magway Regions, scattered in Upper Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Shan (South and East), Chin and Rakhine States, fairly widespread in Northern Shan and Kayin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavy falls in Mandalay and Taninthayi Regions, Kayin State. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were (6.89) inches in Launglon, (5.43) inches in Mogoke, (4.10) inches in Paingkyone, (2.83) inches in Kawlin, (2.64) inches in Wuntho, (2.60) inches each in Labutta and Ye, (2.56) inches in Belin, (2.48) inches in Dawei, (2.36) inches in Shwegwun, (2.17) inches in Thandaunggyi, (1.97) inches in Kawthaung, (1.89) inches in Hainggyigyun, (1.85) inches in Mogaung and (1.42) inches in Gwa.

 BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and weak elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 18th September, 2020: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing and Magway Regions, scattered in Upper Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago and Ayeyarwady Regions, Rakhine and Kayah States, fairly widespread in Yangon Region, Kachin, Shan and Chin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavy falls in Taninthayi Region, Kayin and Mon States and isolated heavy falls in Mandalay Region. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30-35)m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar Waters. Wave height will be about (6 – 9) feet Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and about (5 - 8) feet off and along Rakhine Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Naypyitaw, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Southern Shan, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States.
