SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Taninthayi Region, scattered in Magway Region, fairly widespread in Lower Sagaing and Mandalay Regions and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Rakhine State. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were (4.25) inches in Ann, (4.13) inches in Maungdaw, (4.02) inches in Taungkok, (3.74) inches in Manaung, (3.47) inches in Kyaukpyu, (2.91) inches in Myauk U, (2.68) inches in Gwa, (1.89) inches in Kyauktaw, (1.77) inches in Thandwe, (1.73) inches in Sittwe, (1.60) inches in Thandaunggyi and (1.38) inches in Manchanbaw.
BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over North Bay of Bengal still persists. Monsoon is weak over the Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay and strong elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 26th August, 2020: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing and Taninthayi Regions, fairly widespread in Mandalay, Magway Regions and Kayin, Mon States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Rakhine State. Degree of certainty is (100%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40)m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar Waters. Wave height will be about (8 – 12) feet off and along Rakhine Coast and about (5 - 8) feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin State.
