SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T:  During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Lower Sagaing Region. Rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Upper Sagaing Region and Northern Shan, Kayah States, scattered in Mandalay, Magway Regions and Southern Shan State, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Taninthayi Region and Chin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Rakhine State. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were (3.43) inches in Kyauktaw, (3.10) inches in Maungdaw, (1.97) inches in Taungkok, (1.88) inches each in Ann and Paung, (1.87) inches in Okpho, (1.77) inches in Gyobingauk, (1.69) inches in Central Yangon, (1.65) inches each in Tharrawady and Shan-Ywar-Thit, (1.61) inches in Hpa-an, (1.58) inches in Thandaunggyi, (1.53) inches in Thaton and (1.50) inches in Hlaingbwe.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is moderate over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 18th August, 2020: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing Region and Kayah State, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Taninthayi Regions and Northern Shan State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin, Rakhine States. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times Deltaic,off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35)m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar Waters. Wave height will be about (8 – 11) feet Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast and about (5 - 7) feet Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Central Myanmar areas.
