SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Lower Sagaing Region, scattered in Mandalay and Magway Regions, fairly widespread in Taninthayi Region and Kayah State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Rakhine State and isolated heavy falls in Taninthayi Region, Kachin and Mon States. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were (4.69) inches in Putao, (4.53) inches in Launglon, (4.18) inches in Thandwe, (3.42) inches in Kyaukpyu, (3.07) inches in Kyeikkhame, (3.03) inches in Manaung, (2.95) inches in Maungdaw, (2.67) inches in Thandaunggyi, (2.64) inches in Sittwe, (2.44) inches in Ngathaichaung, (2.32) inches in Hkamti, (2.28) inches in Taungkok, (2.08) inches each in Coco Island, (2.05) inches in Minesat and (2.01) inches in Paung.
BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, yesterday’s low pressure area is crossing North Coastal Odisha and West Bengal (India). Monsoon is moderate over the Andaman Sea and vigorous over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 16th August, 2020: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions, fairly widespread in Kayah State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavy falls in Rakhine State and isolated heavy falls in Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainty is (100%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced Deltaic,off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40)m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar Waters. Wave height will be about (9 – 13) feet Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts and about (5-8) feet Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin State.
