SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, Southwest monsoon has advanced into the Central Myanmar areas and Northeast Bay of Bengal. Rain or thundershowers has been isolated in Lower Sagaing and Magway Regions, Chin State, scattered in Upper Sagaing, Mandalay and Bago Regions, Northern Shan, Rakhine and Kayah States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kachin, Eastern Shan, Kayin and Mon States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavy falls in Naypyitaw, Mandalay and Magway Regions, Kayin and Mon States. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were (3.27) inches each in Kamamaung and Paung, (2.76) inches in Hpapun, (2.56) inches in Thaton, (2.24) inches in Pyawbwe(Agro), (2.23) inches in Saw, (2.09) inches in Naypyitaw(Zayarthiri), (1.94) inches in Nyauntone, (1.77) inches each in Kyaukmae and Bawlakhae, (1.49) inches in Yangon(Mingaladon), (1.30)inches in Kawthaung, (1.26) inches in Hainggyigyun and (1.18) inches in Chaungsone.
BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and weak to moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 07th June, 2020: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions, Northern Shan, Chin and Kayah States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing and Bago Regions, Kachin, Eastern Shan and Rakhine States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavyfalls in Yangon and Taninthayi Regions, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainty is (80%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon – Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30-35)m.p.h. Sea will be slight to moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (6-9) feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon –Taninthayi Coasts and about (4-6) feet off and along Rakhine Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kayin and Mon States.
