SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Sagaing Region, Kachin, Northern Shan and Chin States, scattered in Mandalay Region and isolated in Magway Region, Eastern Shan and Rakhine States and weather has been partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. Night temperatures were (2°C) above January average temperatures in Bago and Ayeyarwady Regions and Kayah State, (3°C) to (4°C) above January average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing and Magway Regions, Eastern Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States, (5°C) to (6°C) above January average temperatures in Lower Sagaing and Mandalay Regions, Kachin and Southern Shan States and (7°C) above January average temperature in Northern Shan State and about January average temperatures in Yangon and Taninthayi Regions. The significant night temperatures were (6°C) in Hakha, (7°C) in Mindat, (8°C) each in Heho, Tiddim and Tongzan. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were Kyaukmae (2.05)inches, Thipaw (1.85)inches, Lashio (1.42)inches, Ta gaung (Agro) (1.36)inches, Kunlong (1.10) inches, Mogoke (0.99)inch, Matupi and Ramthlo (0.94)inch each and Gangaw (0.87)inch.

BAY INFERENCE: Weather is partly cloudy over the North Bay and a few cloud over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 6th January, 2020: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Sagaing Region, Kachin and Northern Shan States, fairly widespread in Chin State, scattered in Mandalay Region and isolated in Magway Region, (Southern and Eastern)Shan and Rakhine States. Degree of certainty is (100%). Weather will be partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States.

STATE OF THE SEA: Sea will be moderate in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (5 – 7) feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of slight decrease of night temperatures in Upper Sagaing Region, Kachin, Shan and Chin States.
