SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Magway and Ayeyarwady Regions and Kayah State, scattered in Naypyitaw and Rakhine State, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing Region, Kachin and Chin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Mandalay Region and isolated heavyfalls in Lower Sagaing Region and Mon State. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were Belin (4.72)inches, Bago (2.68)inches, Chaungsone (2.24)inches, Singu (2.00)inches, Myinmu (1.97)inches, Zaung Tu (1.89)inches, Phyu (1.81)inches, Madaya and Mawlamyine (1.77)inches each, Patheingyi (Shwesayan) (1.67)inches, Lunkyaw (1.46)inches and Bhamo and Kwathaung (1.42)inches each.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and weak elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 17th August, 2019: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Magway and Ayeyarwady Regions and Kayah State, fairly widespread in Kachin and Rakhine States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavyfalls in Mandalay Region and Mon State. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA:  Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30-35)m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (7 –9) feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along  Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and about (4 – 6) feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Taninthayi Region, Kayin and Mon States.
