BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is vigorous over the Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal and strong elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal. Weather is partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal.
Special Features: According to the observations at 17:30 hrs MST today, the tropical Depression has formed over the Culf of Tokin. It is likely to remain almost stationary.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL N00N OF THE 22nd August 2026: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing Region and Kayah, Northern Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region and Kayin, Mon States and isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway, Lower Sagaing, Ayeyarwady Regions. Degree of certainty is 100%.
THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Magway, Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Rakhine, Shan states. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.
STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 35 mph. Squalls with rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 30-35 mph.Wave height will be about 11-13 feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and about 9-11 feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Yangon, Bago, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon, Eastern Shan States.
