24.8.2026 According to the observations at 17:30 hrs MST today, the low pressure area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal and North Odisha, India now lies over West Bengal and adjoining areas of North Odisha, Jharkhand, India and Northwest Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to move Northwestwards and across West Bengal and adjoining areas of North Odisha and Jharkhand, India during next 24 hours. Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal . Weather is partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

According to the 07:30 hrs M.S.T observation today, the water level of Shwegyin River at Shwegyin is observed as about 1 foot 2 inches below its danger level. It may reach its danger level during the next 1 day.

According to the 07:30 hrs M.S.T observation today, the water level of Thaungyin River at Myawady is observed as about 3 feet 3 inches below its danger level. It may reach its danger level during the next 1 day.

It is especially alert to the people who settle near the river banks and low lying areas in Shwegyin and Myawady Townships, to take precaution measure and to stay away from the flood-prone areas in time if the water level will rise.
