SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past 24 hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Kayah State, scattered in Magway, Lower Sagaing Regions and Kachin, Eastern Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw, Mon, Rekhine States. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 7.16 inches in Paung, 4.92 inches in Sittwe, 2.53 inches in Naypyitaw(Dekkhinathiri), 2.28 inches in Thaton, 2.20 inches in Kyeikmayaw, 2.08 inches each in Khayan and Mudon, 1.97 inches in Naypyitaw(Zayarthiri), 1.73  inches each in Kawkareik and Mawlamyine and 1.57 inches in Hmawbi(Agro-Met). 

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at 12:30 hrs MST today, the Depression over the coastal West Bengal, india and adjoining areas of Bangladesh, Northwest Bay of Bengal still persists. It is centered at about 340 miles Northwest of Sittwe (Myanmar), 30 miles Northwest of Canning and 5 miles Southwest of Kolkata, India.   It is likely continue to move Northwestwards and may cross West Bengal and Jharkhand, india during next 24 hours. Weather is a few cloud to partly cloudy over the Southwest Bay and Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 18th August 2026: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Magway and Lower Sagaing Regions and Kayah State fairly widespread in Mandalay Region and Shan State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Mon, Rakhine States. Degree of certainty is 100%. 

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Bago, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Chin, Kayin, Mon, Rakhine. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena. 

STATE OF THE SEA: : Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 35 mph. Squalls with rough seas are likely at times in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 30 mph. Wave height will be about 9-11 feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts and about 8-10 feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region and Kayin, Mon, Shan States.
