SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past 24 hours, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Taninthayi Region and Kayin, Mon States, fairly widespread in Southern Shan State, scattered in Yangon, Bago Regions and Chin State and isolated in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, Rakhine, Northern Shan States. Weather has been partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. Day temperatures 5°C above May average temperatures in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin State, 3°C to 4°C above May average temperatures in Mandalay, Bago, Magway, Lower Sagaing, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kayah, Chin, (Northern and  Eastern)Shan States, 2°C above May average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Southern Shan State and 3°C below May average temperature in Mon State and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were 42.8°C in Nyaung Oo, 41.5°C in Minbu, 41.3°C in Myingyan, 41.0°C each in Pakokku, Minkin and Myinmu, 40.7°C in Kalay, 40.6°C in Chauk, 40.5°C in Sinbyugyun and 40.4°C in Gangaw on 20-5-2026. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 1.93 inches in Pinlaung, 1.85 inches in Chaungsone, 1.77 inches in Yangon(Botahtaung), 1.62 inches in Kawkareik, 1.42 inches in Kyeikkhame, 1.06 inches in Kyeikmayaw, 0.91 inch in Pyawbwe, 0.83 inch in Kyauktan and 0.79 inch each in Hmawbi(Agro-Met) and Tiddim. 

BAY INFERENCE:  Monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay of Bengal and weather is a few cloud to partly cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 22nd May 2026: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Taninthayi Region and Kayin, Mon States, scattered in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Bago, Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, Chin, Rakhine, Southern Shan States and isolated in the remaining Regions and States. Degree of certainty is 100%. 

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Yangon, Bago, Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Kayin, Chin, Rakhine, (Northern and Southern)Shan States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: STATE OF THE SEA: Sea will be moderate in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 6-8 feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of thundery activities in the Deltaic Myanmar areas.
