SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past 24 hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Naypyitaw, Magway, Lower Sagaing Regions. Rain or thundershowers has been widespread in Taninthayi Region and Mon State, fairly widespread in Mandalay Region and Eastern Shan State, scattered in Kachin, Kayin, (Northern and Southern)Shan States and isolated in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavyfalls in Mandalay, Taninthayi Regions and Mon State. Day temperatures 3°C above May average temperatures in Magway Region and (Southern and Eastern)Shan States, 2°C above May average temperatures in Mandalay, Bago, Sagaing, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kayah State and 2°C below May average temperature in Taninthayi Region and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were 42.8°C in Chauk, 41.5°C each in Nyaung Oo and Myinmu, 40.9°C in Sinbyugyun, 40.8°C each in Minbu and Magway, 40.2 °C in Myingyan, 39.5°C in Monywa, 39.4°C in Gangaw and 39.0°C Pakokku on 17-5-2026. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 3.39 inches each in Myeik and Paung, 3.31 inches in Thazi(Hlaingdat), 2.99 inches in Kawthaung, 2.68 inches in Dawei, 2.54 inches in Thazi, 2.42 inches in Wundwin, 1.26 inches in Phyarpon, 1.22 inches in Coco Island and 1.14 inches each in Thaton and Namsan(Southern Shan).

 BAY INFERENCE:  Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay of Bengal. Weather is a few cloud over the North Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

 FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 19th May 2026: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Taninthayi Region and Kayin, Mon States, fairly widespread in Southern Shan State, scattered in Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, Eastern Shan States and isolated in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region and Kayin, Mon States. Degree of certainty is 100%. 

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Yangon, Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Kayin, Mon, Shan States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 30-35 mph. Wave height will be about 7-9 feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 5-7 feet off and along Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of thundery activities in the Deltaic Myanmar areas.
