Bay of Bengal Condition

Southwest monsoon is likely to set in Southern Myanmar Areas during (13th – 17th of May) and Deltaic Areas during (18th – 22nd of May). Two Low Pressure Areas may form over the Bay of Bengal and one may further intensify into a Depression. During this monsoon period, monsoon will be moderate. Weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Rain Condition and Rainy Days

Rain or thundershowers are likely to be above normal in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Ayeyarwady Regions and about normal in Magway, Sagaing, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine, Shan States.

Rainy days are expected about 6 to 8 days in Yangon, Bago, Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine, (Northern and Eastern) Shan States and about 3 to 5 days in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway, Lower Sagaing Regions and Kayah, Southern Shan States.

Day Temperature

Day Temperature will be (1.5°C) above normal of May average maximum temperatures in Mandalay, Magway Regions and Southern Shan State and about normal of May average maximum temperature in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Bago, Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine, (Norhtern and Eastern) Shan States.
