30-11-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm “FENGAL” over the Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved Westwards. It is centered at about 765 Nautical miles West of Coco Island (Myanmar), 45 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Chennai and 40 Nautical miles East-Northeast of Puducherry (India). The centre pressure of Cyclonic Storm is 994 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 50 miles per hour. Weather is cloudy over the Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy over the Andaman Sea.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is weak over the Andaman Sea and South Bay

and moderate to strong elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 9th June, 2016: Rain or

thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing and Magway Regions,

fairly widespread in Mandalay and Taninthayi Regions, Shan and Kayah

States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally

heavy falls in Rakhine State, isolated heavy falls in Magway and Ayeyarwady

Regions, Kachin and Mon States. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA:  Squalls with moderate to rough sea are likely at time

Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off  and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed

in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar

waters.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Strong monsoon.
