SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Lower Sagaing Region and Kachin State. Rain or thundershowers have been scattered in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing and Mandalay Regions, Shan (North and South) and Kayah States, fairly widespread in Magway Region and Chin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Magway, Bago and Taninthayi Regions, Kayin and Mon States and isolated heavy falls in Yangon Region. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were (5.91) inches in Kawkareik, (5.67) inches in Launglon, (4.88) inches in Myeik, (4.76) inches each in Thaton and Mawlamyine, (4.61) inches in Chaungsone, (4.49) inches in Dawei, (4.22) inches in Nyaunglaybin, (3.74) inches in Layhtetpyin(Agro-met), (3.58) inches each in Pyay, Hpa-an and Mudon, (3.28) inches in Bago, (3.20) inches in Kyeikdon, (3.03) inches in Khayan, (2.90) inches in Thandwe and (2.72) inches in Hindatha.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong to vigorous over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and weak to moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SPECIAL FEATURES: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs MST today, the Land Depression over Thailand has weaken into a low pressure area near Thailand-Myanmar border areas and it is forecast to reach Kayin State, Myanmar today evening.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 20th September, 2020: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Sagaing Region, Kachin and Northern Shan States, scattered in Eastern Shan state, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Mandalay Region, Southern Shan and Chin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavy falls in Magway, Bago and Taninthayi Regions, Kayin and Mon States and isolated heavy falls in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Rakhine and Kayah States. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Occassional squalls with rough to very rough seas will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40-45)m.p.h. Wave height will be about (8 – 14) feet  off and along Myanmar Coasts

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Increase of rain in Magway, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States.

FORECAST FOR NAYPYITAW AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 20th September, 2020:                  One or two rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainty is (100%).

FORECAST FOR YANGON AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 20th September, 2020:           Some rain or thundershowers which may be heavy at times. Degree of certainty is (100%).
